Picture of the river Liffey. It runs parallel to the Temple Bar district which is home to some of Dublin's best night spots, restaurants and shops.
Why is this guy half naked you may ask? Here's the story. We hopped off the bus one day on our way to the Temple Bar area for dinner when we noticed a crowd gathered. We went over to investigate and came upon a group of guys that were feeling good after leaving the bar and thought they'd swim across the river Liffey. This guy has stripped down to his briefs and is preparing to dive into the murky river.
Still going. The river is pretty wide as you see from this shot. The temperature on this day was around 60 degrees so the water had to be a little frigid.

Needless to say, he persevered and emerged on the opposite side of the river.
Well, hello there, ladies.
You would think these people have never seen someone strolling half naked down the street after a swim across the Liffey on a chilly afternoon.

A tribute to the Morgan family. Crystal's mom's maiden name. The Morgan Hotel is located in the Temple Bar region of the city.
We took this tandem bike to tour Phoenix Park. A bike is needed because the park is Europe's largest enclosed city park. It's enclosed by a 7 mile wall and was originally formed as a royal hunting Park in the 1660s and opened to the public in 1747. A large herd of fallow deer still remain to this day. We saw them as the bus brought us into the park.
The Wellington Testimonial was designed by Robert Smirke as a testimonial to Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, who is reputed to have been born in Dublin. It was completed in 1861 and is the tallest obelisk in Europe at just over sixty-two metres tall. There are four bronze plaques cast from cannons captured at Waterloo; three of which have pictorial representations of his career while the fourth has an inscription at the base of the obelisk.
The park grounds also contain a number of government buildings such as the president of Ireland's residence, official guest house for state visitors, national survey mapping agency, and the U.S. Ambassador's residence.
Monument to Daniel O'Connell along O'Connell street. The Phoenix Park is only 1.5 miles from Phoenix Park.
The next series of pictures are a documentation of the constant and rapid weather changes that Ireland undergoes on a consistent basis. This picture was taken along O'Connell street.
O'Connell street an hour later
O'Connell street an hour and a half later. As a rule, we learned to always take an umbrella for this very reason. We were fortunate that even though we experienced a number of overcast and cloudy days, it rarely rained during our visit which was unusual for the time of year.
